Enter the home address and you're all set for the future

Many flying drones have GPS capabilities, which means that they can recognize when they are approaching an area where flight is prohibited.

A huge chunk of Washington DC is designated as a no-fly zone for example, including the White House. Similarly, many areas, like embassies, have restricted rules in that regard.

However, most people don't have a choice about whether or not someone can just pilot a drone over their high-fenced back yard.

That can now change. While you still can't do anything about custom-designed, GPS-less drones, you can turn your home into as much of a no-fly zone as any place can get.

The procedure is pretty simple, thanks to the new website called NoFlyZone.org. Just go there, enter your home address, along with some more basic information, and the website database will do the rest.

Drone manufacturers will receive the information, which they will then use to make their drones unable to fly over the property.

Currently, the number of manufacturers collaborating on this is small (the big ones like DJI and 3D Robotics are notably absent from the list, unfortunately enough), but this may change as laws are passed in regards to flying robot permissions and risks.
