It really seems that the popularity of rugged, wearable camcorders is on the rise, since more and more manufacturers start outing such products, the latest we've come across being the Midland company, who's just recently revealed a couple of HD wearable cameras that adventurers who want to record just about everything going on in front of them might find interesting.

The first model we'll talk about is the 720p HD XTC200, that, beside the aforementioned recording resolution, offers 30 FPS, 16:9 aspect ratio, 140-degree wide angle and uses a rechargeable lithium battery pack, as well as a Micro HD Card that can reach a maximum storage capacity of 32GB, the recording rate being of around 13 min/1GB (MPEG-4).

Next in line come the XTC300 and XTC350 Full HD camera models, that can record videos at 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, 30 FPS, 16:9 aspect ratio and 140-degree wide angle.

They also use rechargeable lithium battery packs, up to 32GB Micro HD Cards, and the recording rate is set at 11 min/1GB (MPEG-4).

The main difference between the two models is that the XTC350 is a camouflaged camera that's been designed for outdoorsmen and includes accessories to attach the camera to the bill of a cap, handlebars, hunting bow or tree.

"Action cameras are a growing market," said Charlie Speights Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Midland, adding that "Some of the older cameras are larger and a bit cumbersome. The one button on/off design of the XTC line is ingenious. A single flip of a single switch allows you to start recording so it's perfect for everything from sky diving to scuba diving."

"The multiple attachments that come with the camera are ideal too," states Tyler Cracraft, Midland's Product Manager, "Use the appropriate mounting device then go anywhere or do almost anything and shoot-and-share your POV (point-of-view) footage," added Mr. Cracraft.
