14 DAY TRIAL // A new wave of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Release Candidate (RC) downloads has been leaked and made available for download in the wild. Build 6.1.7601.17105.100929-1730 was offered by Microsoft officially to the public for testing on October 26th, although some early adopters received access to the bits a tad earlier the past month.
In addition, there are some limitations as far as the public RC of Windows 7 SP1 is concerned. First off, testers can only download the English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish flavors of SP1 RC.
Users running Windows 7 RTM in other languages than the ones mentioned above are not able to test drive the upgrade in their native tongue.
But while the software giant is offering Windows 7 SP1 RC Wave 0 to English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish users, Wave 1 of the upgrade’s development milestone was also served to select testers.
Windows 7 SP1 RC Wave 1 involves releases in a range of additional languages, including: Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese-Hong Kong SAR, Chinese-Simplified, Chinese-Taiwan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese-Brazil, Portuguese-Portugal, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
The Wave 1 downloads of Windows 7 SP1 RC are not available to the public, as is the case for the five languages of the Wave 0 release. However, testers still get the same Build 6.1.7601.17105.100929-1730.
“Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is an update for consumers and IT Pros that helps keep your PCs supported, provides ongoing improvement to the operating system, includes previous updates delivered over Windows Update as well as continuing incremental updates to the Windows 7 platform based on customer and partner feedback, and is easy for organizations to deploy a single set of updates,” Microsoft explained.
