Since things seem to go so smoothly, Wacom took the wise decision to expand its Cintiq tablet displays series, introducing its first wide screen models. Besides that, the company has also rolled out its first screen in the US under 21 inches.
Wacom Cintiq 20 WSX was optimized for wide screen use, offers a 1680 x 1050 resolution, an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a display diagonal of 20.1 inches. The size should be just enough to allow its users enough space to create and edit large images in great detail, offering a preview of the content and a smart desktop menu layout. Just as with previous version, this one uses the same programmable ExpressKeys and Touch Strips, which means you're free to customize your Cintiq the way you want.
"The Cintiq 20WSX combines the advantages of a large-format LCD monitor with the control, comfort, and productivity of Wacom's most sophisticated patented cordless, battery-free pen technology," as the company's description mentions.
If you're about to start a small business in the artistic field and you we're looking for one of these devices, you should know that it retails for about 1,999 bucks a piece. But, hey, art demands sacrifices.
The Cintiq 20WSX is not the only item Wacom is introducing on the market. The company has also announced the 12WX model, which is a 12-inch wide screen tablet that serves as both primary display and a sort of "companion" for larger screens on the market.
"Users will appreciate the Cintiq 12WX's ability to integrate seamlessly into existing workflows. Whether developing content at a work station in conjunction with a large-format display or creating material with a laptop, the Cintiq 12WX provides all the advantages of pen-on-screen usage in an intuitive and functional design," stated Michael Marcum, director of product management for Wacom.
"Current Intuos3 users who switch to the Cintiq 12WX can gain an even more natural and liberating edge over their current workflow. The Cintiq 12WX works seamlessly with over 100 software applications, providing navigation and creative control freedoms that place an emphasis on ease-of-use, intuitive on-screen input and a welcome jump in productivity," he added.
This Wacom wide screen tablet should be available for about $999 a piece.
