Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview is one of the key tools offered by Microsoft to early adopters testing Windows 8 Developer Preview as a way to spark application development, and especially the creation of Metro apps. There’s already extensive documentation and a range of additional resources available to developers looking to start using Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview on MSDN.

Among the topics on the Redmond company’s dev hub is one dealing with the new features and enhancements introduced in the first public preview of Visual Studio 11.

Devs can easily get insight into the new and improved features in the Visual Basic language and Code Editor, but also of the C#, C++ and F# in Visual Studio 11.

Of course, the software giant is providing additional details about the evolution from Visual Studio 2010 to Visual Studio 11 on topics such as team Foundation Server, .NET Framework 4.5, ASP.NET 4.5., etc.

There’s even an entire section of the VS11 site on MSDN dedicated to “Product Highlights for Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview” which covers: Visual Studio IDE, Visual Basic and C#, Visual F#, Visual C++, Debugger and Quality Tools, Parallel Computing, Graphics Tools, Data Application Development, ASP.NET and Web Development, and SharePoint Development.

“Visual Studio is a complete set of development tools for building ASP.NET Web applications, XML Web Services, desktop applications, and mobile applications. Visual Basic, Visual C#, and Visual C++ all use the same integrated development environment (IDE), which enables tool sharing and eases the creation of mixed-language solutions,” Microsoft notes.

“In addition, these languages use the functionality of the .NET Framework, which provides access to key technologies that simplify the development of ASP Web applications and XML Web Services.”

Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview is offered to early adopters both as a standalone download and packed inside an ISO image of the Windows 8 Developer Preview.

Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview is available for download here. Windows 8 Developer Preview Build 8102 Milestone 3 (M3) is available for download here.
