Vimeo is one of the 43 apps currently on the Apple TV. It can surely get lost in the crowd if it doesn't stand out with new interesting stuff all the time so its developers were hard at work.

The new app is out now and offers a lot of stuff to get you stuck on it for a long while. The developers started with a new, simplified navigation, "We took our old menu, cut it down to the essentials, and put it at the top of the screen for easy access".

Signing into the app gives you access to customized and personalized menus like "My feed," "Watch later," "My Videos," and you can also search for whatever you want to see.

Going down a notch to the Featured section, you will discover 4 different categories. The current ones are "Weekend Challenge Winners," "Discover Popular Videos," "Staff favorites – June 2014," and "Top 10 of 2013."

The Vimeo team explains that you don't even have to watch every single Staff pick because the above mentioned album choses only the best. There are some curated channels so you can watch the most interesting stuff right away. There's a back catalog so you can see who the staff favorites were on every month for an year. The number of videos varies from month to month. For example, the current month (June 2014) has only 7 videos, while other months go up to 12 or more.

Video on demand is the first big category promoted on the newly updated Apple TV. There are currently 92 trailers for movies. When you click one, you're taken to a page that shows a brief description, release date, the duration and some Extra Features. You get a chance to preview the movie or watch a trailer, queue it to Watch it later or see related movies and videos from the same author.

By the way, the first movie on the list is a documentary about Reddit's developer Aaron Swartz called "The Internet's Own Boy." It was released just 10 days ago and it is a must see.

Vimeo tells everyone that there are some hidden features in theirs app. For example, you can now enjoy continuous playback. All you have to do is press the play button on your remote while any video thumbnail is selected. There's also a way to quickly Like or add a video to your Watch Later queue by holding down the center (select) button on your remote.
