Redmond-based software giant Microsoft is known to be working on a new version of its Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, one that is dubbed 6.5.3, and which has already made a series of appearances into the wild. Recently, the OS version was spotted at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where it was running on a few devices, and now we can have a look at yet another video with the OS, spotted on the Pharos Traveler 137. According to zdnet, it shouldn't be too long before Windows Mobile 6.5.3 makes an official appearance on handsets, as Microsoft has already sent it out to mobile phone makers out there. Pharos Traveler 137 is one of the phones that will receive an update to the new software solution, it seems, and the same might apply to other high-end popular phones like the Toshiba TG01, Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 or the HTC HD2.

However, for the time being there are no details available on when the OS update is pushed to users, but one can take a look at the video below to see some of the enhancements Windows Mobile 6.5.3 is set to deliver. We've already had a look at some of them, via the long list of leaked builds that emerged into the wild until not too long ago, and zdnet's video shows that they are quite welcome changes for Microsoft's mobile client.

The new version of Windows Mobile is said to come around with a series of changes in the start page, touch-optimized drop down lists and menus, notification bar, zoom button and bottom menu buttons. However, it seems that the lock screen and the today screen are the same as in the Windows Mobile 6.5 flavor that Microsoft unveiled officially in October 2009. Overall, the new platform iteration does come with nice touch enhancements over the previous Windows Mobile 6.5 variant, and most users will probably be happy with it when it arrives.
