Agile Web Solutions has updated its password manager and form filler, 1Password, to version 2.9.17. The new release adds quite a few changes and bug fixes, among which an improved Wi-Fi sync window, an improved "Conceal Passwords," and a new preferences option stand out.
The release notes for 1Password 2.9.17 reveal that Agile Web solutions has improved the Wi-Fi sync window to show sync status and error messages, while removing the Sync to iPhone menu item. The reason for this change is that it has been superseded by the new Sync using Wi-Fi menu item. Users are asked to first sync their iPhone and then upgrade to 1Password touch 2.0 before using the new Sync using the Wi-Fi window.
Also changed is an Improved "Conceal Passwords," to not give away the real password length. When concealed, all passwords are shown with the same length, Agile Web Solutions reveals. Other new additions include iCab crash reports in diagnostics, a new preferences option to save master password in login keychain and a monospaced font in Strong Password Generator window. The automatic updater has been tweaked a bit to better validate downloaded files and prevent broken updates. Lastly, the option to "Lock when all applications closed" has been replaced with the "Always start 1Password locked" preference. To see the bugs fixed in this release, check the full 2.9.17 changelog

1Password is designed to remember all the online passwords that you insert on any web page or form, anytime, by using one single (master) countersign. The software integrates directly into most browsers, and sports built-in, anti-phishing and keylogger protection. Mac owners can easily manage hundreds of passwords with one key. It supports Firefox, Camino, OmniWeb, DEVONagent, NetNewsWire, and, of course, Apple's own Safari. Opera, unfortunately, isn't supported. An iPhone version of the app is also available for download via the iTunes App Store.
1Password starts at $39.95 - Single User license. A Family license costs $59.95. 1Password is licensed on a per-person basis (a single license can be used by one person on as many Macs as they can afford), in order to reduce 1Password's total cost of ownership. It is a Universal Binary application, suitable for both Intel-based Macs, and PowerPC machines.
