As one would have expected, Verbatim did not let CES 2011 go by without saying its piece, so its brought out a pair of portable hard disk drives that utilize the best USB connectivity standard available.

Like all other companies attending the 2011 Computer Electronics Show, Verbatim made sure it had some presentable devices on show.

As such, it provided a new addition for the Titan line of portable HDDs, as well as one for the Store 'n' Go collection.

They bear the quite self-explanatory names of Titan XS SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and Store ‘n’ Go SuperSpeed USB 3.0/FW 800.

The Store ‘n’ Go SuperSpeed USB 3.0/FW 800 is meant for Mac users and has a minimalist design while still packing 500 GB of storage.

It uses HFS+ formatting and can communicate with a host system via not just USB 3.0 but, as the name implies, FireWire 800 as well.

The other drive, Titan XS SuperSpeed USB 3.0, is a bit more rugged than the other, with a shock-resistant rubber case.

It has the same amount of storage as its so-called sibling and backwards compatibility with USB 2.0 ports.

It also benefits from the existence of the Nero BackItUp & Burn software, which can easily back up and restore the system.

“We’re thrilled to debut our innovative line-up of portable hard drives at CES 2011 and to deliver exciting new options in this rapidly-growing category for both Mac and PC users,” said Charles Klinker, Verbatim’s Director of Marketing, HDD Products.

“Verbatim’s timely new portable solutions capitalize on the ongoing transition to USB 3.0 and connect consumers with the fastest transfer speeds to safely store and share favorite photos, music, files and more at home and on-the-go!”

Unfortunately, the press release contained no pricing and availability details, but online stores should not take too long in starting to carry out deliveries.
