The OTA-4 will bring awesome new features

BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition users will be happy to know that the next major software update for the Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system from Canonical will arrive sometime in the middle of next week.

Softpedia was the first to report earlier this month about the new features that will be implemented in the OTA-4 update for Ubuntu Touch, but now we are getting closer to adding these features to our Ubuntu phones.

On May 27, Łukasz Zemczak of Canonical informed users that the first release candidate image for Ubuntu Touch OTA-4 was prepared the other day and was ready for quality testing, but some issues were still present.

"So for now QA will be only testing those bits that are fully ready. Seeing how things are going we expect the OTA-4 being available for BQ devices around mid-week next week the earliest," says Łukasz Zemczak in the announcement.

Dual-landings and a warning about Wily Werewolf images

In the same email sent yesterday to the Ubuntu Touch mailing list, Łukasz Zemczak informs us that the Landing documentation is still in the process of being updated to make sure that all landers have the proper documentation for deploying their apps.

Also, Ubuntu Touch developers are being informed that they won't be able to use the dual-landing feature that has been recently announced for dual landings while the landing gates are closed.

Lastly, Łukasz Zemczak notifies us that there are still some issues with the devel-proposed images of Ubuntu Touch that are based on the Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system.

As such, it is not recommended to use the devel-proposed channel at the moment. Next week we will publish another announcement with the features that have been implemented in the Ubuntu Touch OTA-4 update, so make sure that you follow us on Twitter, Google+, and Facebook.
