Without a doubt, USB 3.0 is a very hot topic these days, with more and more peripherals that make very good use of its impressive data transfer capabilities finding their way onto the market, one of the latest we've come across being a multi-purpose memory card reader presented by Japanese company Aska.

Given the fact that most computer users nowadays also own digital cameras, smartphones and other devices that employ memory cards for storage, the need for a card reader capable of transferring data onto such products at very high speeds also becomes more dire.

And this seems to be exactly the reason why Aska has decided to roll out such a product that, due to its built-in USB 3.0 connector, is actually capable of transferring the respective data at speeds of up to 5Gbps, depending on the features of the computer it's connected to, of course.

Since the number of different memory card types such a product supports is also extremely important, the device has been equipped with multiple ports, thus being able to support SDXC / SDHC (Class 2 ~ 10, UHS-I) cards, as well as miniSD / SDHC and microSD / SDHC on the side.

Additionally, the memory card reader also supports CF (UDMA 0 ~ 6) and MicroDrive cards, as well as multiple Memory Stick modules, including here Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick DUO, Memory Stick PRO DUO / Memory Stick PRO Duo HG/M2 (for 8-bit parallel), and several xD card models as well.

Plus, it's likely to work quite well when connected to just about any type of computer, whether we're talking about a Windows or Linux machine or a Mac system.

The ASKA USBCR30 memory card reader is currently available in Japan for 3,990 Yen or around $48, which is a relatively OK price point for such a product, especially taking into account the features it has in store.
