The old Twitter, which has been replaced by the, well, new Twitter, is gone for good. The service has announced that everyone has been upgraded to the new interface, after revealing, last week, that the old version will be completely removed.

In a tweet, Twitter has confirmed that the upgrade has been completed. The few users that were still using the old interface, for whatever reason, no longer have a choice.

For Twitter, the move makes sense, maintaining two versions of the site is hard and expensive, especially if only a few users were still preferring the old site. Almost a year after it was introduced, the site is 100 percent new Twitter.

"New Twitter rollout: complete! All users now have the same Twitter.com experience & can access our latest features. twitter.com/newtwitter," Twitter tweeted.

There were a couple of people that didn't like Twitter's move, this was inevitable, but overall, there don't seem to be a lot of people that miss the old site.

It's very likely that many of the ones still using the old version simply didn't give new Twitter a chance and that they'll get used to it now that it's the only option.

Twitter started testing the new Twitter a year ago. It launched it for everyone last fall, but users still had the option to revert to the old version of the site if they wanted to.

The new Twitter has been greatly received and is considered to be a huge improvement over the previous site. It's faster and better looking, and is also designed to include more features and content in a single page, via the two-pane design.

The app-like design has been adapted by other websites since. Very recently, Twitter unveiled a HTML5 version of the site for the iPad, which borrows heavily from the new Twitter but is optimized for touch input.
