Security vendor Tend Micro today released an advisory concerning TROJ_DLOADER.SHB, a new threat which is able to harm your computer and bring more infected files on your system. According to the report, the distribution potential is "low" because the Trojan is brought on a computer by an already installed malware which automatically downloads it. "It can also be downloaded unknowingly by a user when visiting malicious Web sites," Trend Micro added. However, please note that its damage potential is high so it is able to really harm your computer and the data stored on your computer. In fact, the Trojan doesn't attempt to modify your files but it brings another dangerous threat discovered by Trend Micro as ADW_BRAVESENTR.N?

This new infected file is an adware which opens pop-up advertisement depending on the websites opened by the users. Getting back to the Trojan horse, it affects only the Windows operating systems including 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP. As you can see, Vista is not mentioned here which means that the clients of the latest Windows version are protected against the threat.

How can you find out if you're infected with it? You can easily install an updated antivirus solution such as the one provided by Trend Micro which already provides detection for this Trojan. However, you can always use the Windows Task Manager to look for XPUpdate.exe, an executable file create by the virus which is often copied in the Windows folder. "It also drops the file INSTALL in the root folder," Trend Micro added.

In addition to these changes, the Trojan adds a new entry in the registry to be sure that the executable is run every time the computer starts.
