Trend Micro Incorporated announced the 2007 version of its Internet security suite. The 2007 Internet Security release will incorporate
Trend Micro's well-known PC-cillin engine and anti-malware protection along with a host of new features addressing all the latest threats including rootkits, spyware, phishing, spam, hackers, viruses, WiFi attacks, smartphone threats and the growing problem of identity-theft. In addition, the Trend Micro Internet Security subscription will include TrendSecure, Trend Micro's new online security services. TrendSecure will bring added security for consumers who not only connect at home, but often while they are on the go. TrendSecure is currently available in English and Japanese.
"We are excited to offer this hybrid software and web-based service release because increasingly mobile consumers and computer-connected families want to email, shop, share pictures, bank, browse, instant message with confidence, safe from malicious attacks and time-consuming interruptions," said Lane Bess, global general manager, consumer products and services,
Trend Micro. "Trend Micro Internet Security comprehensively safeguards your laptop and other computers, your files, your transactions, and your identity. The all new TrendSecure online suite of additional security services provides information and tools that extend digital security beyond your home-connected computer."
Securing Data and Identity for Connected Consumers on the GoConsumer laptop shipments more than doubled to 65.3 million worldwide in 2005 from 26.4 million in 2000, says IDC. The new Trend Micro Internet Security version responds with additions and enhancements to secure consumer digital files and data, and protect against stolen personal identity due not just to cyber-theft, but
also from the theft or loss of computer notebooks. It provides extended customer care, and helps ensure safe connections in hotel, airport, coffee-shop computer kiosks, and WiFi-enabled neighborhoods and towns.
Trend Micro's new suite is designed to identify, block and automatically remove known viruses, trojans and spyware; filter annoying spam; warn about unauthorized wireless access to your network; block objectionable content; identify fraudulent phishing scams; and provide users with real-time defense against online and offline identity and data theft.
Protection for the Household PCsHome PC and Internet usage has soared in the UK with 67% of households having at least one PC and 60% having an Internet connection (Source: Ofcom, 2006). Many households have more than one computer in the family and are using their PCs to do online shopping, family finances and store and share pictures and music. With this in mind, the new suite includes advanced home network protection for up to three home PCs -- such as greater web content filtering, personal firewall capabilities, and centralized management -- provides parents with more assurance that their home computing security is up-to-date and their families are safe when online.
"By offering the household license, we recognize that many consumers have more than one PC in their homes, and want to protect their complete home network and their laptops anytime they choose to be connected," said Lane Bess. "Continuing the tradition that we pioneered with our first all-in-one PC-cillin Internet Security suite offered as a three-pack several years ago, we've got consumers covered, everywhere, every day with the best technology and support at an attractive price," said Lane Bess.
New Features of Trend Micro Internet SecurityFeatures include an entirely new integrated anti-spyware/antivirus engine and library that blocks and removes more spyware, adware, and grayware than ever before. The engine also takes full advantage of technology obtained through last year's acquisition of anti-spyware leader, InterMute -- innovations such as Venus Spy Trap behavioral monitoring and a uniquely innovative Rootkit Common Module that specifically blocks rootkits, a new type of deep-hiding invader. The new TrendSecure component will offer Remote File Lock, allowing users to get on the Internet and remotely lock down their private/financial files in the event their laptop is lost or stolen. Transaction Guard™ uses a secret keyboard to protect users' online transactions conducted at internet cafes or public WiFi hotspots where keyloggers can potentially steal passwords and other private information. Available for download, Trend Micro Mobile Security protects devices from viruses and spam directed at smartphones.
