“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” will undoubtedly be one of the biggest blockbusters of this summer. With a release date set for June, this is one sequel that has serious potential of killing all the competition at the box-office, it has been said on countless occasions – and fans can now see just how it will do this, thanks to a new official trailer that has just leaked online.

Although in poor quality (the official version won’t be out until Thursday), the trailer does show clearly that the second installment will preserve the same humorous but dangerous atmosphere that was so marked in the first film. As for the action scenes, fans needn’t worry, because the trailer shows clearly that Michael Bay took plenty of care with this aspect – and then some.

In other “Transformers” news, just yesterday, it was revealed that Linkin Park had teamed up with famed composer Hans Zimmer to work on the score of the film, although more details have not yet been made public. Linkin Park will also contribute a new song to the film, which has been described by Mike Shinoda as “built on layered, heavy synths” and “create[ing] a nice interplay between the organic feel of the rhythm track and the more robotic feel of the keyboards.”

Work on the musical score is still underway, Shinoda has revealed, but things are really looking up, which means fans won’t be disappointed of the final product, just like they weren’t the first time around either. In other words, what with the first trailer already here (albeit illegally) and the music for the film being now put together, the hype for “Revenge of the Fallen” has just reached climatic quotas, several movie-oriented publications point out.

“Although I wasn’t at liberty to say it before, the song I’ve been referencing here on mikeshinoda.com in the past few weeks… is actually being done for Michael Bay’s new Transformers film, due out June 24th. In addition – and probably ever cooler – we have been offered the unique opportunity to help score the film. The song we wrote is being used as one of the themes, and we will be writing various interpolations on that theme, and trying out some other thematic ideas as part of the (very large) team scoring the film.” Shinoda was saying yesterday, in a post on his official website.
