Moscow isn't all that it's cracked up to be and, just in case you were wondering, aliens are getting meaner and more dangerous with each year. That's the (simplified) premise of “The Darkest Hour,” the latest invasion-themed movie.

The second trailer for it has just been released and, to put it in very few words, it packs everything you need to know about it.

A group of friends head to Moscow for their “dream vacation,” where they witness the strangest event ever, as fireballs fall from the sky and then starting sucking out the energy from everything.

Said fireballs, which are actually invisible aliens, can also kill humans in quite an original fashion, by making their bodies disintegrate and vanish into thin air.

Of course, the aliens want to take over the world so that they can harvest and use all of man's energy sources.

It's the same friends from the beginning of the movie who decide to fight them and stop them in their tracks.

Directed by Chris Gorak, “The Darkest Hour” stars Emile Hirsch and Rachel Taylor, and will be out on December 25, 2011.
