While we don't normally expect HDTVs to be the type of products one might want to take along while being on the go, it seems that Toshiba's got a whole different take on this topic, since they've just released a new line of LED Full HD TV sets, called Power TV, that includes a model actually powered by rechargeable batteries, the PC1. And we're not talking about some small-size, ultra-portable product here, but about a fairly respectable model offering a diagonal size of 32 inches (24-inch model also available), which means that carrying it around isn't exactly a viable option. But what's up with the battery, then? Well, the answer is quite simple, really, the Power TV PC1's battery actually works as some of UPS (uninterruptible power source), ensuring the fact that users will be able to continue viewing their favorite programs for up to 2 hours in the case of a power outage. Since in various countries around Asia, power fluctuations and outages seem to be a pretty common problem, Toshiba has decided to equip the PC1 with this solution, the whole assembly being possible also due to the fact that Toshiba's HDTVs are LED-backlit, and thus require a lower amount of power in order to function normally. Beside the battery-powered PC1 model, Toshiba's Power TV line also includes the PS1 (available in 40, 32 and 24-inch versions) and the PB1, available in 32 and 24-inch versions. Power TV series also features "Auto Signal Booster" that improves signal sensitivity and allows viewing in areas with weak signal strengths and "Auto View", optimizes picture settings according to the ambient lighting condition for greater viewing pleasure and lower electricity consumption. Unfortunately, pricing details for these things have not yet been provided, but Toshiba does mention that they should be pretty affordable, and we're seriously counting on this.
