Embedded multimedia cards fall under the auspice of the eMMC standard. It is this standard that got a bit of attention from Toshiba just now.

Long story short, the company has introduced 32 GB embedded devices made out of four 64 Gb (8 GB) 19nm chips each.

They comply with JEDEC eMMC Version 5.0, published by JEDEC in September 2013.

The newcomer measures 11.5 by 13 by 1.0 mm and will eventually evolve to 128 GB, although the package may become slightly bigger when that happens.

Lower-capacity chips, like in 4 GB, will be made as well.

Mass production will start this month (November 2013). All 19nm eMMC chips will have HS400 high speed interfaces (high read/write speeds) and controllers dedicated to handling basic NAND application control functions.
