A massive batch of screenshots from the new Tomb Raider reboot have just appeared on the web, courtesy of the latest issue from GameInformer magazine.

Even if it was rumored for quite some time, the reveal of a Tomb Raider reboot coming from Crystal Dynamics surprised quite a lot of people.

The screenshots and concept art released up until now were well received by quite a lot of people, but, sadly for fans of the series, didn't showcase much of the new game.

Now, GameInformer magazine, who had a whole issue dedicated to the new title, has come forth with an impressive batch of screenshots, concept art and renders from the upcoming game.

In case you missed the original announcement, the new Tomb Raider game will be a complete reboot of the series, and will feature a much younger and inexperienced Lara Croft.

The 21-year old explorer will be shipwrecked on a deserted island, filled with natural obstacles and temples that need to be explored in order for her and the rest of the surviving crew to get back to civilization.

“Forget everything you know about Tomb Raider, we are exploring things that have never been done before in this game,” said Darrell Gallagher, head of Crystal Dynamics at the time of the announcement.

“This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other.”

The game will be a much darker take on the classic elements of the series, filled with brutal scenes and lots of dangers for the younger explorer.

The island will be a completely open world, and new gameplay mechanics, including a better free-aim shooting system or enhanced climbing are set to appear in the new title.

A concrete release date hasn't been offered by Crystal Dynamics, but we might expect the new Tomb Raider to be published by Square Enix around the end of the year.

Check out the screenshots below and judge for yourselves if the new Tomb Raider reboot is going to please fans.
