The new Tomb Raider movie, which was confirmed earlier this year, is set to enter production immediately, as the two companies involved in its development, MGM and GK Films, have confirmed it.

The Tomb Raider franchise saw the release of a pretty successful reboot earlier this month and, despite Square Enix's statements that sales disappointed, a new movie in the series is set to be produced soon.

Now, the companies behind the film, MGM and GK, have confirmed to THR that GK founder Graham King will act as producer and that work on the movie will begin immediately.

No actual casting details have been revealed just yet, so it's unknown who'll get to play the lovely Lara Croft, the heroine of the franchise.

The Tomb Raider series saw the release of two movies in the early 2000s, starring Angelina Jolie.
