It seems that this has been one busy day for Lenovo, which has stepped forward with a number of new notebooks, all based on Intel's latest Centrino 2 processor technology. And this was to be expected from one of the leading portable computer system makers. Especially since a number of other manufacturers have already announced their own Centrino 2-based lineup.

This time around, the company's business oriented ThinkPad notebooks are in the spotlight, offering no less than nine new models the users can choose from. The notebooks are part of the company's SL, R, T and X series: SL300, SL400 and SL500, as well as the R400, R500, T400, T500, X200 and W500. All of them have been built to provide users with features that can improve their computing experience.

"The ThinkPad name is synonymous with leadership in notebook computing for the business user," said Peter Hortensius, senior vice president, Notebook Business Unit, Lenovo. "Now we're bringing the same quality and reliability that ThinkPad is known for to small business customers with a number of leading technologies like high speed mobile broadband and new services and capabilities. ThinkPad customers expect more from their notebook PCs, and with today's announcements, we are pleased to continue our tradition of industry-leading innovation".

As most of you know, Lenovo has made a name for itself thanks to its ThinkPad series, labeled as one of the best business-oriented notebooks available on the market. Their latest product additions can only improve on that, as they are built using the very latest in mobile technology. The release of these new ThinkPads also marks the introduction of a new series of Lenovo notebooks, the W series. They have been built to provide a larger keyboard and a balance between portability and performance, offering the best in a new class of mobile workstations.

The prices for the SL 400 and SL 500 notebooks will start at $799 and these models will be available immediately through Lenovo Business Partners. The other notebooks will be available in August with starting prices on select models ranging from $899 for the ThinkPad SL300 to $1999 for the ThinkPad W500.
