The promo trail for this summer’s “Terminator: Genisys” got off to a very bad start, with fans of the franchise trashing it on social media from the first moment the official synopsis and the first photos came out. That was in October 2014.

The latest trailer for the film (see below), out in mid-April, continued the long streak of hit and misses by including a very good look at what was possibly the big twist in the film, namely that John Connor was no longer the leader of the Resistance and the savior of the mankind, but a Terminator himself.

Indeed, Johnny boy was now one of the bad guys.

A new poster for “Genisys” has been released, and as you can see for yourself in the photo above, it continues with his massive spoiler, as it has Jason Clarke (John Connor) smack in the center of it, as a Terminator.

The big reveal in the trailer could have been an honest oversight or a conscious inclusion that the studio hoped not many would notice, but this poster removes all doubt as to how willing the disclosure is.

Which bring us to the question: is this the worst movie promo trail ever, or is this a deliberate attempt to throw fans off, by feeding them the wrong storyline?

“Terminator: Genisys” stars Clarke, Jai Courtney, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke. It is directed by Alan Taylor and will be out in July.
