I'm sure many mobile users that own a camera phone would often want their devices to pack a more evolved camera. Even if we now have phones with 5 Megapixels and
3x optical zoom that manage to offer very good photos, their quality cannot be compared yet with that obtained with professional cameras.

To solve this problem, various manufacturers created special telescopes that can be attached to a phone and enhance its camera capabilities. There are telescopes for some Motorola handsets, some Nokia ones and even for Apple's iPhone.

Since the mentioned telescopes are a bit exclusive, working with few devices, a new 7x18 telescope appeared. Named Generic Mobile Phone Telescope, the new gadget was (according to the website that sells it) tested on a wide range of handsets, including Nokia 3500 Classic, Nokia N70, Nokia N73, Nokia N95, Sony Ericsson W810i, Sony Ericsson K550i, Sony Ericsson K810i, Blackberry Pearl 8100, Blackberry Curve 8300, Asus P525, Asus P526, Asus P535, HTC Touch, HTC Cavalier, HTC Trinity and so on. It should work fine with any mobile device that doesn't have the camera lens too close to its edge.

The 7x18 telescope is suitable for camera phones with 91-109 mm length and allows users to magnify pictures as if they would own a camera with 7x optical zoom. The telescope can be easily attached to the mobile phone, and, after you have adjusted the clear focus, you're ready to take great pictures, even with a 2 Megapixel camera.

The Generic Mobile Phone Telescope is available in six colors, to suit almost any phone: black, white, silver, red, pink and light blue. A telescope can be bought from this address for $22 (plus eventual taxes) - a good bargain, considering the fact that the whole package also includes a neckstrap and an adapter. Your phone won't look too pretty with the telescope attached, but who cares about that, when the photos can be awesome? Sure, we haven't tried the thing (yet), but it seems like a good gadget to have around.
