The Michael Bay-produced “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” with Megan Fox and Will Arnett as the human leads will be out in theaters this Friday, August 7, 2014, and if you want a better taste of what you should expect from it, the video below should do the trick.

Dubbed by early reviewers one of the funniest scenes in the movie and released online on Yahoo!, this scene sees the 4 Turtles stuck in an elevator trying to escape their attackers and launching into an impromptu beatbox session.

A surprise for fans of the original TMNT series is also included here, as the famous Cowabunga! is uttered before an attack on Shredder, with the mention that it was the one phrase Raphael told Michelangelo “when we were kids” never to utter again.

This video also offers a better look at the Turtles in motion, which means we can better appreciate the motion capture technology at work. Even so, seeing human lips and noses on them is still somewhat creepy.

“TMNT” won’t be out for another couple of days but reviewers seem to have already made up their mind about this unnecessary reboot: it’s action-packed but it’s also mindless, humorless, and ultimately pointless, depriving the Turtles of all personality and humor.

The film has a 37 score (out of 100) on Metacritic and a 29 rating (out of 100) on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s not exactly the most promising start, but it will probably still make millions at the box office.
