Last night, TLC premiered a new reality series, called “Outrageous Kid Parties,” which would probably be best described as a version of “My Sweet 16” in which the birthday boys and girls are actually about 10 years younger.

The premiere episode was about Gracie, who was to turn 6 and her mother Nicole wants to give her a “fairytale” birthday party because she deserves it – and because Gracie was her little gift, coming when she was nearly 40.

What was initially meant to be a small party that should not cost more than $10,000 (which was considered too much by the rest of the family, but the mom insisted it was just the right amount), turned into an extravaganza of more than $32,000.

Nicole had between 150 and 200 people coming over. Gracie made her grand entrance in a fairytale carriage, while the cake alone cost over $2,300.

At the party, the birthday girl had a complete meltdown when she saw the bird on the cake was purple instead of blue, and caused a scene that ended with her makeup smudges all over her face.

Guests were all dressed in costumes, Gracie had a princess white gown on her and everything eventually turned out ok, even if at triple the initial estimated cost.

However, the conclusion for Gracie was that she “must” have another bash of this kind the next year because she couldn’t live knowing she wouldn’t get another one some other time.

Current Movie Reviews describes the first episode of the new reality series as the most “disgusting” thing currently on television – which will undoubtedly catch on.

“This show is one of the most nauseating, ridiculous examples of how to spoil a child I’ve ever seen on TV. Fast-forward 10 years and you’ll see a 16-year old Grace who still rules the roost,” CMR writes.

The ladies on The Talk seem to believe the same, as the video below will confirm: such an expensive and pretentious party is too much for a 6-year-old, who will undoubtedly ask for the moon in the sky in a couple of years’ time.

If you haven’t seen the first episode yet, here is where you can see a trailer for it.
