Last night, TLC premiered a new reality series, called “Outrageous Kid Parties,” which would probably be best described as a version of “My Sweet 16” in which the birthday boys and girls are actually about 10 years younger.

The premiere episode was about Gracie, who was to turn 6 and her mother Nicole wants to give her a “fairytale” birthday party because she deserves it – and because Gracie was her little gift, coming when she was nearly 40.

What was initially meant to be a small party that should not cost more than $10,000 (which was considered too much by the rest of the family, but the mom insisted it was just the right amount), turned into an extravaganza of more than $32,000.

Nicole had between 150 and 200 people coming over. Gracie made her grand entrance in a fairytale carriage, while the cake alone cost over $2,300.

At the party, the birthday girl had a complete meltdown when she saw the bird on the cake was purple instead of blue, and caused a scene that ended with her makeup smudges all over her face.

Guests were all dressed in costumes, Gracie had a princess white gown on her and everything eventually turned out ok, even if at triple the initial estimated cost.

However, the conclusion for Gracie was that she “must” have another bash of this kind the next year because she couldn’t live knowing she wouldn’t get another one some other time.

Current Movie Reviews describes the first episode of the new reality series as the most “disgusting” thing currently on television – which will undoubtedly catch on.

“This show is one of the most nauseating, ridiculous examples of how to spoil a child I’ve ever seen on TV. Fast-forward 10 years and you’ll see a 16-year old Grace who still rules the roost,” CMR writes.

The ladies on The Talk seem to believe the same, as the video below will confirm: such an expensive and pretentious party is too much for a 6-year-old, who will undoubtedly ask for the moon in the sky in a couple of years’ time.

If you haven’t seen the first episode yet, here is where you can see a trailer for it.

I think the Family is not caving in on the fear of what is going on in the economy. Look who benifited form this, Party Planner, Costume company, Cake maker, food , rentals all kind of money was spread out to help small business.....so find some light in this story!

The show was awful but the parents were disgusting. The husband is a shameful human being and the most weak kneed excuse for a father and husband. The mother should be buried alive and the all of the kids removed from the home ASAP! I am so disgusted that this crap exists let alone being aired on television. I am contacting my cable provider to remove TLC permanently from the offering! The entire nation should boycott TLC!

They should change the name of the show to "Kids parties that will outrage you". When I think of the number of children in the world going hungry or in need of clean water to drink I am truly sickened by this show. This family has obviously been blessed and instead of sharing their blessings, they are actually a black hole sucking all that is good out of human potential.

A mom who so loves her baby girl. They have worked to earn this money,no matter the economy. They haven't done anything wrong It's alot I wouldn't do it because it's too much, and more for her than the child, but with good intent.
