Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has announced in early 2011 that it would deliver a new software update for its Windows Phone 7 operating system in the coming months, and it seems that the company might be ready to deliver the software to end-users.

Some of the previous rumors on this software update for Windows Phone 7 suggested that Microsoft might push it out in January, but, as the end of the month approaches, the chances that this might actually happen are becoming increasingly slim.

However, the emergence of a new article published on the company's support website, called “Troubleshooting problems during software update for Windows Phone 7,” might suggest that the software update would be on its way to handsets in the near future.

The said article explains what users should do when issues with updating their Windows Phone 7 devices emerge, “When you try to update the Windows Phone 7 software to the current version, you encounter a problem or receive an error code.”

Various problems that might emerge during the installation process are explained in the said support article, which can be seen on Microsoft's website here.

Of course, the entry in question does not specify an exact release date for the new software update for Windows Phone 7, but some suggest that Microsoft might be set to deliver the upgrade in the very near future.

The said update should come with a nice range of new features for handsets running under the new mobile operating system, including Copy&Paste functionality, improved performance in applications and games, or better search in the Marketplace.

The software update would certainly include a series of fixes as well, including one for an issue that caused handsets to send large amounts of data over 3G, or another one for a security hole that enabled the release of an unlock tool for the operating system.

Hopefully, Microsoft would indeed manage to deliver the software soon, though there are small chances that it would actually arrive before January is over.
