If things were up to Nintendo's President, Reggie Fils-Aime

New Super Mario Bros. Wii has been released and Nintendo's President, Reggie Fils-Aime, is glad to brag the game's multiplayer. The way he sees it, the title was designed to fulfill everyone's needs, regardless of gaming experience or cultural background. "I really do believe that New Super Mario Bros. Wii will satisfy even your most jaded, even your most competitive player," Fils-Aime said. "I'll tell you, there's nothing like playing New Super Mario Bros. with three of your friends. You're picking each other up and throwing each other into the lava pits and the crevasse. This game is the most fun."

But he does carry some regrets concerning the game, and, if it had been up to him, he would have made it a little bit different. The main thing he feels the game lacks is an online multiplayer, but "this was a decision made purely by the developers," he added. "They believe this experience, in the same room, to be elbowing your friends and family members as you're playing the game [is ideal]. It was really their decision. I personally would have loved for it to be online capable as well, but having played the game, I really can't fault it for not being online multiplayer."

It may be true that the Wii doesn't really shine when it comes to online multiplayer, but it's not like it's completely impossible either. Nintendo managed to squeeze the feature into Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, so, maybe, it could have done it here as well. Still, even without the online fun, the game is a good one and it provides a lot of fun and plenty of laughs to go around.

The New Super Mario Bros. Wii isn't the only title from Nintendo to come out this holiday season, and one of the other big games from the company is The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Fils-Aime expects a lot from this game too, and he is "personally looking forward to most this holiday season" from it. If it will be anything like the New Super Mario Bros. Wii, then we're going to have a very cramped holiday game-schedule.
