Nintendo has just rolled out a fresh patch for New Super Mario Bros. U on the Wii U in Japan, which adds support for the Pro Controller as well as for in-game downloadable content.

New Super Mario Bros. U was one of the few big games for the Wii U last year and Nintendo is now preparing to debut a full-fledged expansion in the form of New Super Luigi U, which reimagines all the levels and focuses on Mario's brother.

Now, Nintendo has rolled out a fresh update for the game in its native Japan, according to NeoGAF, adding support for the Pro controller, while implementing the ability to purchase downloadable content from within the game.

The DLC option should allow for a smooth release of New Super Luigi U, which appears first as DLC, this June and then as a retail expansion, in July, around the world.

Expect the patch to debut in the rest of the world soon enough.
