News from China says that at least two men living in this country have thus far been killed by a rather unusual and novel strain of bird flu. Presently, a third individual, age 35, reportedly finds herself in the hospital and is in a rather critical condition.

The strain of bird flu believed to have killed said two men, ages 87 and 27, is known to the scientific community as H7N9.

By the looks of it, the passing away of these two men as a result of their being affected by said strain of bird flu was the first time when the H7N9 had ever made any human victims.

The two men killed by this strain of bird flu reportedly asked for medical attention following their beginning to cough and have a fever.

Later on, these symptoms translated into pneumonia, and the men died before doctors even had a chance to do anything about it.

The 35-year-old woman who also been infected with H7N9 has thus far managed to survive, yet doctors say that she is critically ill and that there is no telling what might happen on the long and even on the short run.

Seeing how the three individuals now said to have been affected by this unusual strain of bird flu never had the opportunity to meet, specialists are having a rather difficult time trying to figure out how it was that they contracted the H7N9.

More so given the fact that, as International Business Times informs us, none of the people who came in close contact with them (i.e. friends and family) have thus far displayed any signs of also being infected.

Therefore, scientists can only speculate that the bird flu strain responsible for these deaths cannot be a highly contagious one.

Since there are no vaccines against H7N9, this piece of news can and should be labeled as a good one.

The men killed by the new strain of bird flu were from Shanghai, whereas the woman is from Chuzhou.
