Valve has launched a new stable version for its Steam for Linux client, featuring a slew of new features and a lot of fixes and improvements.

When a development version garners sufficient changes, Valve promotes it to stable, and the work for the next beta starts almost immediately.

Highlights of the latest Steam for Linux Beta update:

• A crash that occurred on startup if the user ran two steam:// commands quickly has been fixed; • A regression that could cause the UI to hang on occasion, when flipping away and then back to the browser with a loaded page, has been corrected; • A bug discovered in the Web Browser, where scrolling via any input method would cause the underlying browser implementation to believe the mouse cursor had been centered on the screen, has been fixed.

More details can be found in the official announcement. Download the Steam for Linux installer from Softpedia.

In order to get the latest update, users just have to start the application and make sure they’re enrolled in the Beta program.
