Here's what Windows Phone 10 could look like

Windows Phone 10 is work in progress right now at Microsoft, but details are really scarce at the moment, despite the fact that the company is rumored to be already shipping some very early builds to select partners and testers.

What's more, people familiar with Microsoft's Windows Phone plans said that the company would use the upcoming Windows 10 event scheduled for January 21 to discuss plans for the smartphone platform, with some even claiming that a preview build could be released for PfD devices.

And even though little is known about Windows Phone 10 at this point, it's easy to figure out how the upcoming platform should actually be if you ask hardcore fans of the platform.

New Start screen, revamped store, easier to use

The concept created by DeviantArt user altavizta imagines a completely revamped look for Windows Phone, which not only that makes sense but also looks really well, despite the fact that it still needs some refinements here and there.

Probably the biggest improvement that everyone would love to have in Windows Phone 10 is the addition of a Start screen that seems to be inspired from the one available on the desktop, as well as interactive live tiles that allow users to perform a number of actions without launching the apps.

The Start screen also features a new clock and weather interface, as well as new browsing menus to quickly access Start, programs, files, and search.

A status bar at the bottom makes it easier to access specific options, while users can also swipe up the status bar to show the notification center.

New look for the lock screen

In addition to all these tweaks, the Windows Phone 10 concept also boasts a completely new lock screen that places the weather forecast and the clock right in the middle of the screen.

Notifications are displayed under these two elements, and so are playback controls that allow users to quickly pause and stop playing music without the need to unlock the phone.

Of course, there's no doubt that Windows Phone 10 might not look at all like the concept we have here, but Microsoft would really do itself a favor to make the upcoming mobile OS look just like this.
