ABC might have a relatively hard time with 'Desperate Wives' in that the show is no longer gathering people in front of the television set as it used to do while the first season was airing, but nobody is willing yet to just let it slip away.
People complained that the lives of the sexy women living on Wisteria Lane is getting kind of soapy and that there was barely any difference between 'Desperate Wives' and, let's say, 'The Young and the Restless'. But, as the network promised not long ago, they are spicing things up and the best way to do that right now is to bring new actors to the already famous cast.
So, they contacted Oscar-winning songwriter and actress Kathleen York ('Vengeance Unlimited') to play the part of a mysterious red-headed who starts making waves in the peaceful neighborhood of Wisteria Lane.

The other brand new 'acquisition' is Matt Roth, who will be joined on the set by his wife in real life, Laurie Metcalf in recurring episodes, although it is said that they will not be appearing in the very same scenes together. Roth will play a hunkie hero-type of man, who immediately becomes a close friend of Lynette (Felicity Huffman).
The third season of 'Desperate Housewives' kicks off this Sunday, September 24, on ABC.
