Now that’s just mean! For some time now, Zack Snyder, the director of the upcoming “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” has been trolling fans by posting Batman pics with a clear “Star Wars” reference, and now J.J. Abrams has joined in on the fun.
Over the weekend, Abrams, who is now directing “Star Wars: Episode VII” in London, tweeted to Snyder another mashup photo, in a trademark “Dark Knight” style, with the caption “THE C3PED CRUSADER.”
You will find it embedded below: the other two pics are from Snyder’s feed, of Batman and R2-D2 hanging out in the desert and Superman (Henry Cavill) as a Jedi, wielding a lightsaber, which started the madness.
This may very well be in good fun but what Abrams and Snyder don’t seem to grasp is the fact that, every time they post a photo like this one, they get the hopes up of many fans, all of whom will have their hearts broken when the films do come out and there’s not even a hint of crossover between them.
Because, let’s be real for a second, how could these two franchises ever be brought together, if only for a second? The only connection possible (and very likely) right now is that of having a “Dawn of Justice” trailer running at the beginning of “Star Wars,” but these tweets and photos seem like a lot of build-up just for this.
We’ll see when “Star Wars” opens in December 2015. For “Batman V. Superman” we’ll have to wait a bit longer, as it opens in March 2016.
