Mobile phone carrier Sprint is set to unveil a new smartphone on Thursday, February 24th, a recent tweet from the company reads.

“What do you think the next new Sprint phone will be? Find out Thursday,” the wireless carrier teased us via the aforementioned tweet.

But this is not all, as another tweet from the company unveiled some more details on the said device, suggesting that it might actually be a Windows Phone 7-based smartphone.

“If you could design a brand new phone, what would it have? Ours will have a hub for gaming, music, pictures and video,” the company said.

For those who are not familiar with the Windows Phone 7 operating system, we should note that content on it is organized in live tiles and hubs.

Thus, Sprint's tweet clearly points at the upcoming availability of a Windows Phone handset on the company's airwaves.

Windows Phone 7 devices are already available for purchase in the United States, but only at GSM carriers.

Sprint and Verizon, the two large CDMA operators in the country, haven't got the chance to launch their own Windows Phone 7 handsets, though Microsoft promised they would do so in the first half of the ongoing year.

Some of the previous rumors suggested that Sprint might be the carrier for HTC 7 Pro, and February 24th might become the day when the phone goes official at this operator.

The HTC 7 Pro was launched on shelves as a side-sliding device, the only such handset HTC released with Windows Phone 7 on board.

The smartphone also comes with a touchscreen display, and should prove a great option for business users due to the productivity tools it includes.

In case it lands at Sprint, it would make a lot of users happy, especially those who might have met the HTC Touch Pro 2 smartphone before, since it sports the same form factor.

However, nothing is official on this for the time being, so we'll have to wait for the Thursday announcement to learn more on this.
