Activision has announced that
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, the new music simulation game in the long running series, will be the venue where Soundgarden, one of the best known grunge rockers in the world, will be coming to make their first virtual appearance after their much anticipate reunion. Those who pick up Warriors of Rock will be able to all get access to downloadable content made up of 12 songs from the band, including “Black Rain”, the new single that redefines the image of Soundgarden.
Tim Riley, who is the vice president of music affairs for the Guitar Hero franchise, has stated, “We’re extremely excited to be collaborating with Soundgarden on this monumental moment in their music career. Guitar Hero continues to break new ground by being the preeminent interactive platform for debuting original content and a stage for the biggest acts in all genres of rock and roll to reach new audiences in an all-new way.”
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is coming in September and Activision says that the game will change the music simulation formula forever. The game will include, for the first time in the franchise, a complex story based mode where players will need to lead the warriors of rock as they battle the forces that would take music away from them. The game will deliver more than 90 songs on the game disk, including tracks from bands like Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Megadeth, Queen, Muse and KISS and Gene Simmons will make an appearance as one of the main characters in the video game. Those who are not interested in following the narrative that Warriors of Rock delivers can opt to get into the Quickplay+ mode, that allows gamers to test their rock skills against high scores and against friends with a set of enhanced gameplay features that expand upon the mechanics players have loved in previous titles.
