Samsung doesn't rest and here it is, presenting to us a new device to be included in our holiday shopping list. The i7110, codename “Pilot,” is said to hit Russia first, and then most European countries this December. With all that, this device has already created some agitation among fans.

Designed as a Quadband GSM/EDGE phone, it comes equipped with 3G HSDPA connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS support. Running on the Symbian S60 platform, it also features a 5 Megapixel autofocus, LED flash camera, and a secondary front camera. In addition, the GPS system can be used either when by car using a built-in Fm transmitter or when by foot using the handset. The internal memory of only 50MB is not very useful on its own, but completed with the up to 16GB expandable memory through the microSDHC card slot, new opportunities will emerge.

The i7110 does not strike as a very successful mobile as far as the design goes, although its measurements are of 118x52x12.9mm. However, for this device in particular, looks aren't everything. The 1200m Ah battery is a very reliable one, tests showing that it will last up to 11 hours of talk-time.

Moving on to the strong points of this phone, it combines great features with maximum efficiency, and if we’re to judge it by its navigation or multimedia capabilities, it becomes a more than satisfactory mobile. Complete with the 2.6'' AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) display, the i7110 offers an experience that cannot be easily overlooked.

Speaking of the “Pilot,” the President of Samsung's Telecommunications Network Business declared, “The introduction of I7110, Samsung’s new Symbian OS-based smartphone, is a testament of our strategic focus on the open OS phone portfolio. With a strong partnership with Symbian and the increased momentum in the smartphone market, Samsung will continue to offer a wide selection of mobile phones meeting the needs and lifestyles of today’s consumers.”

The price tag for this device is still unavailable, but there have been rumors that it would settle somewhere around a staggering $500. Either way, this mobile will surely be expensive, but $500 doesn't seem like a reasonable or believable price at all.
