Although some of us might not consider this to be the perfect period to release a computer printing product, Xerox seems to consider that its new 7600 flatbed scanner is just want we need this summer. The product, which has been officially announced yesterday, benefits from an ultra-slim, portable design, and can be easily connected to any portable or desktop computer, through an USB
port.

Besides its high portability features, the Xerox 7600 compact flatbed scanner also comes at an impressive low price. At only $99.99, users can purchase a Xerox product that is able to scan up to 1200 x 1200 dpi in 48-bit color, and which comes bundled with a suite of document and image management software. The 7600 presents itself at a total weight of 3.3 pounds and measures less than 1.5-inch tall, which clearly makes it high on portability. Still, I can't say how many computer users are going to carry their Xerox scanner around with them, just because it's thin and lightweight.

"Small/home office professionals and students will love the low price, the portability, and the quality results of the Xerox 7600. It is an ideal scanning solution for anyone who needs a fast, flatbed scanner and outstanding software to enhance their scanning productivity," said Bob Scaglia, senior vice president of retail and e-commerce sales for Xerox scanners.

Besides a high number of software applications, with which the 7600 comes bundled, Xerox's scanner also provides some important physical features that allow users to easily work with the product. One of these is dubbed Visioneer OneTouch, and is actually a technology that allows first-time users to easily create scans, with just one touch of a button.

The scanner provides preset buttons for scan, copy, OCR and e-mail functions, but also comes with a fifth button for custom scan settings. The product is available at online retailers but, as mentioned above, I don't know how many users are considering acquiring a scanner in this period.
