The exterior of the new laptop is identical to the previous BX40-Series, but the good stuff is inside. So, for an unspecified price, you get the latest Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor (model VGN-BX41VN) backed by a 2GB of RAM. The third factor for a laptop's well-being is the video card. For this purpose, Sony has chosen the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2300 GPU, which is certified for Windows Vista.
When it comes to storage, the BX40-Series is designed to adapt to the requirements of its owner. The special multi-function drive bay gives you the option of exchanging the DVD+-RW/+-R DL/RAM optical drive with a secondary hard disk for backups or other projects.
Display wise, the new laptop offers 1280 x 800 resolution on a 15.4-inch widescreen TFT LCD that also benefits from Sony's X-black LCD enhancement for better contrast and color reproduction.
Other features include active data security, provided by a fingerprint recognition system working together with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) hardware-level protection, the VAIO G-Sensor HDD Shock Protection, which detects abrupt motion and automatically parks the drive heads, preventing a ?head crash? if the notebook is struck or dropped, and the Intel Centrino wireless LAN technology.
