According to the latest news on the Web, Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is expected to announce next week at CTIA a new Windows Mobile-powered device that should work with Clearwire's network, namely the Samsung SWD-M100 Mondi mobile WiMAX device. What the phone maker has to say about its new device is that it comes with touchscreen capabilities, and that it will allow users to access the Internet using Clear's mobile Wimax network.

As anyone can see in the picture attached to this article, the new yet unannounced SWD-M100 Mondi features a sliding display that will unveil a four-row QWERTY keyboard, resembling the one offered by Nokia's N810 Internet tablet. At the same time, the new device also includes a D-pad along with a series of function buttons that are placed on its front side.

Along with the 4.3-inch screen, the device is also expected to include a 3-megapixel photo snapper, as well as Bluetooth 2.0+EDR module, Wi-Fi connectivity and WiMAX. A microSD memory card slot for additional storage space should also be there, as well as TV output. According to the news, the handset was supposed to run under Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 platform, but it seems that it will come with the 6.5 version after all, given the fact that it includes a dedicated Windows button required by the OS.

The new SWD-M100 Mondi would be the first handheld WiMAX device that Samsung would come to the market with, at least this is what the company states. Unfortunately, Clear hasn't said anything on the new handset, and there is no information on when it will come to the market, but we hope to be able to learn more on it at CTIA, so stay tuned for more details as they become available.
