Samsung is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new flagship smartphone this quarter, none other than the Galaxy S5, despite the fact that it hasn’t officially confirmed plans on the matter as of now.

Galaxy S5 is expected to arrive on shelves this year as the next device in Samsung’s popular Galaxy S family of devices, and it should feature top-of-the line capabilities when released.

We’re still in the dark when it comes to the phone’s looks, yet a recently spotted patent design from the handset vendor has inspired Ivo Maric to build a concept render for it, as concept-phones notes.

The new Galaxy S5 concept resembles a lot the sketches included in the aforementioned patent filing, while also featuring a faux-leather back, the same as Galaxy Note 3 does.

The concept device is said to sport the same size as the Samsung Galaxy S4, though it should have a larger touchscreen display, at 5.25 inches. The mobile phone’s display is said to be slightly curved.

One of the interesting features of this handset is the fact that it sports a metal frame, visible both on the front and on the back.

Another detail that caught our attention is the fact that this Galaxy S5 does not sport a physical home button, something that all other Galaxy S smartphones did before it.

Samsung was rumored before to plan on ditching the feature in favor of a soft button, but it’s yet uncertain whether it will do so starting with Galaxy S5 or not.

Given that the concept is based on a Samsung patent filing, chances are that at least one of the company’s upcoming smartphones will indeed sport a similar design, even if Galaxy S5 might not.

For the time being, however, this remains only the product of a designer’s imagination, so don’t get your hopes too high. Given that Samsung’s flagship is expected to be released in the not too distant future, additional info on it should emerge soon, so stay tuned.
