South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is gearing up for the launch of a new device running under Google's Android operating system, during an event set to take place on November 8th. And

it appears that the company already sent out invites to the said event, which should take place in New York.

“Join Samsung Mobile for the unveiling of a new Android device,” the invitation reads (via Android and Me).

However, while we know that a new device powered by Android should arrive from Samsung in the near future, we still don't know what this mysterious product would be all about.

Some of the previous rumors on Samsung's plans for the Android segment of the market suggested that the company might soon launch a new mobile phone, one that would sport “the Google experience,” and not Samsung's own UI.

At the same time, there have been many rumors floating around on the possibility that the company might release a Wi-Fi-only flavor of its Android-based Galaxy Tab tablet PC.

We've already seen leaked documents showing that this slate version would be on its way to Best Buy in the near future, and the said November 8th event might be dedicated to the release of this Tab model.

Further more, there are some suggesting that the upcoming announcement might involve the next version of Google's Android operating system, Gingerbread.

The Internet giant already places a giant Gingerbread man on its capus in Mountain View, so the actual release of the new OS flavor should not be too far.

Even so, the first devices to run under it are expected to land only in early 2011, which might suggest that, in the end, Samsung's announcement might not be related to this platform release.

For what it's worth, these are only suppositions for the time being, and, with nothing yet confirmed on the matter, we should wait for November 8th to arrive to learn more on Samsung's plans.
