Electronic Arts has announced that its upcoming SSX snowboarding simulator won’t be making its intended release date in the middle of February, right on Valentine’s Day in North America and on February 17 in Europe, as the development team wants a few more weeks to polish the game.

SSX was initially announced back at the 2010 Video Game Awards as a gritty reboot of the long running series, but, slowly but surely, EA began to show off features that reminded fans of the older games from the snowboarding franchise.

Now, while most of them already canceled their Valentine’s Day plans, EA has announced that SSX will be pushed back a couple of weeks, now being scheduled to appear on February 28, in North America, and March 2, in Europe, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

According to creative director Todd Batty, this extra time will allow him and his team to polish the game and make sure it follows the very successful footsteps of predecessors like SSX Tricky or SSX 3.
