Now that the Full HD video quality has more or less become the new standard when it comes to any sort of media files, Transcend decided to provide digital cameras and camcorders with a card capacious and fast enough to keep up with this type of media recording.

NAND Flash storage chips have come to be used in a wide variety of storage devices, such as flash drives, solid state drives and, of course, memory cards.

The last category is divided into multiple types of cards, each designed for a specific set of tasks and compliant with different devices, from microSD/microSDHC cards used in smartphones to those employed by cameras.

The fastest and most capacious of these are mostly made use of when it comes to taking high-speed continuous photos or shooting high quality videos.

To this end, Transcend has just announced the existence of a new, high-speed card, a SDXC model to be exact (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) with a so-called “unprecedented amount of storage capacity,” 64 GB that is.

This product uses the exFAT file system, is compliant with the SD 3.0 standard and bears a Class 10 rating, meaning that it is among the fastest of its kind.

To be more specific, the newcomer is supposed to be able to reach transfer rates of up to 25 MB/s.

“This exceptional data transfer performance not only prevents lag when recording 1920 x 1080 Full HD videos, but also enables high-speed consecutive shooting at sporting or other fast-motion events,” states the official press release.

“As more and more consumer electronic products such as HDTVs, Blu-ray players and mobile phones are expected to support SDXC in the near future, widespread adoption of SDXC is just around the corner,” the announcement added.

Already available for pre-order at 137 Euro, the SDXC of 64 GB is accompanied by a lifetime warranty.
