After yesterday's batch of screenshots, more details about Resistance 3, the newest entry in the first person shooter series, have appeared, courtesy of Game Informer magazine.

Resistance 3 is the fourth installment in the series, and the third full pledged one, if we exclude the PSP exclusive Resistance: Retribution.

As was revealed yesterday, the game's protagonist will be Joe Capelli, one of the squad mates of former lead man Nathan Hale.

According to the new details, Capelli now has a family with Susan, Hale's stepsister, and another squad mate, Malikov, also lives, and will help him in the new fight against the evil Chimera.

Speaking of the Chimera, it seems that the mutated humans have finally won over the rest of humanity, so instead of an organized resistance, humans are now forced to live as refugees and engage in guerrilla warfare against them.

Resistance 3 will have a two player story campaign, just like in the first title, and won't have a dedicated campaign, like in the second game.

New enemies will also appear, with mutated Chimeras making life hell for the remaining humans, including ones with longer legs, and all will be controlled by a smarter Artificial Intelligence, which can jump over walls and through windows.

The weapons system has been overhauled, with items getting upgrades the more players use them.

New weapons will be present, like the Mutator, which shoots a biological mist that confuses enemies and makes them go against their friends, while some will have an improvised look, like grenades.

Last but not least, Resistance 3's multiplayer mode will be more organized, as Insomniac wants to avoid the chaos that usually went with online matches in Resistance 1 or 2.

Resistance 3 is developed by Insomniac Games exclusively for the PlayStation 3 and is set to appear around the end of 2011.
