The iPhone Dev-Team’s messenger, Musclenerd, has announced a new Redsn0w build for the masses, though only the developer types should use the jailbreak software as it targets iOS 5 beta 6 IPSWs.“Minor update to redsn0w (0.9.8b7) for a few iOS5beta6 and 4.3.5/4.2.10 issues…,” reads the tweet from
Musclenerd. He directs followers to
an update on their official blog.
Seeded to developers earlier this month, iOS 5 Beta 6 is the latest test build jettisoned from Cupertino with the purpose of having iOS developers download and test out the new features for the impending public launch this fall.
Analyzed by the code-savvy bunch known as the iPhone Dev-Team, the iOS 5 Beta 6 IPSWs for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad are jailbreakable.
However, the iPad version was seemingly updated by Apple without any changes to the version number or the file name, as the Dev-Team explains on their blog.
“Apple updated the iPad1 iOS5b6 IPSW without changing its version number or filename, so we’re releasing redsn0w 0.9.8b7 to handle both the original and changed IPSW,” read the update.
The Team says they’ve also added “explicit support” for a tethered jailbreak of iOS 4.3.5 (GSM iPhones, and the iPod touch) and iOS 4.2.10 (CDMA iPhones) which means users are no longer required to trick Redns0w (so to speak) by pointing the jailbreak app to older iOS 4.3.4/4.2.9 firmwares.
Finally, the team notes, redsn0w 0.9.8b7 fixes “a 4.2.10 problem,” so take that for whatever you can make of it.
Apple is close to releasing the final iOS 5 bits to the public with a promised fall launch of the software alongside iCloud. Both iOS 5 and iCloud are tightly integrated with one another.
Alongside these two confirmed product launches, a new version of the Apple iPhone is expected to emerge as well.
