EVGA is positively happy to boast that its hardware enabled Vince "k|ngp|n" Lucido to reach a 3DMark benchmark score of 12,500 in the Extreme preset.

Go here to see the original post, or here if you want to read what EVGA had to say on the matter.

The man used an EVGA X79 Classified motherboard and four EVGA GTX 580 Classified video boards.

Needless to say, much liquid nitrogen (LN2) was used to keep the computer parts from frying and/or suffering a meltdown.

The graphics boards were clocked at 2.4 GHz (memory) and 1.3 GHz (core clock), hence the performance.

As for the computing side, the PC was powered by an Intel Core i7 3960X CPU, which ran at over 5.2 GHz the whole time.

Now we just have to wait and see how long it takes for yet another record breaking to happen.
