Kaspersky Lab recently announced new versions for two of its most popular products, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 and Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0.

As you know, Kaspersky Anti-Virus monitors all critical areas of the operating system for potential threats, and can detect hidden code, such as rootkits; moreover, it ensures that data transferred to and from the computer is safe by scanning in real-time all incoming and outgoing emails, as well as files and web pages downloaded from the Internet.

Kaspersky mentions that for version 6.0, the scanning speed and the time taken to download antivirus updates have been significantly improved.

Another interesting feature of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 is the efficient resource management. For example, when the antivirus program performs operations that require substantial system resources, it monitors newly launched applications. If resource-intensive processes are launched by the user, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 suspends its operations, freeing up system resources.

In the case of Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0, the most important change is the new antispam system that features a range of advanced filtering technologies, such as intuitive algorithms that analyze emails. The self-learning Bayes algorithm in Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 adapts itself to the specific mail traffic of each individual user, minimizing the Internet traffic that is needed to update the antispam database.
