Hype for the reboot just went into overdrive

“Predators,” the film that will hopefully resurrect the once very successful “Predator” franchise, is yet to arrive in theaters, but anticipation for it is so great one can almost touch it. After several teasers, interviews, photos and well-hidden hints, AvP Galaxy got its hands on no less than 81 stills from the movie, showing anything from Mr. Black to the rest of the Predators and Adrien Brody’s abs, as CinemaBlend can confirm.

The stills, if only for their sheer number, reveal a great deal of details that fans were not privy to before, like how different the Predators are one from another, the kind of weaponry humans use to defeat themselves against them and just how much blood and gore will be included in the film. Four of them are of a Predator identified as Mr. Black, and it appears both with his face mask on and without it – and it is certainly a sight to behold.

“In the human department, we get loads of material of the stars looking their best and worst. Most of the portraits actually show off the weaponry more than the star. Adrien Brody’s character comes fully loaded with a rifle, pistol, knife and an ample supply of extra ammo while Alice Braga’s sticks with a high tech gun fitted with a device likely used for aiming purposes. Danny Trejo is so big he brandishes two firearms both of which are decorated with some flair. I may not know what to do with them, but Louis Ozawa Changchein looks pretty deadly with a pair of Samurai swords and we’ll likely see him put them to use because one image shows him, sword-in-hand, with a predator in front of him and, odds are, he didn’t pull it out for some show and tell. For the gore gurus out there, there’s a pretty graphic shot of a headless, skinless corpse dangling from a tree branch,” CinemaBlend writes.

Director Nimrod Antal seems to have paid the same attention to the details regarding the Predators. “In the beast department there’s quite a lot, a lot we’ve never seen before. Not all predators look alike, with the armor and without it. One even appears to have human-like skin. (I assume Derek Mears is the man under that mask.) Some have horns, another a serious underbite and one even has some porcupine-like prickly things on his head and chest. (We consider these things male, right?) And remember those creatures we caught running through the woods in the TV spot? We get a closer look at one – a dead one,” the same movie-oriented e-zine says.

All in all, the conclusion can be only one, if we’re to believe hype on the net: whether we’re a “Predator” fan or not, we should not miss this film when it comes out in July this year. Produced by none other than Robert Rodriguez, “Predators” is a project that took a bit longer to make but which promises will deliver.
