Footage has popped up showing the long-rumored PlayStation Phone in action, after a long list of rumors and blurry images of the device leaked on the Internet, and a small video shows that the new device might have a strong gaming focus build around content drawn from the PlayStation Network.

The new device is named the Zeus Z1 and the videos show an unknown user showing off the various features it has.

Important for gaming is that the device, which is built around the sliding concept, has a D-Pad which looks suited for most gamer fingers and the now well-known PlayStation shape buttons of the same size, probably big enough for most users to use without problems.

The touchpad that is wedged between them seems a bit small and the two buttons that will probably serve as thumbsticks are probably a bit too small to be very accurate.

The PlayStation Phone also has two shoulder buttons, although it's not clear whether they will be accessible for gaming purposes or if they are reserved for general phone uses.

The menu of the Zeus Z1 has a dedicated button labeled as PlayStation, which looks like a DualShock controller, probably suggesting that all content offered will be gaming linked, with things like video, which are also available on the PlayStation Network, accessible elsewhere.

The configuration suggests that most of the titles accessible on the PlayStation Portable could be played on the new PS Phone, but Sony has moved very slow when it came to offering all its titles digitally for the PSP Go, which lacked a UMD drive, and this might also prove a problem on the new phone concept.

Sony could also make a push to bring the most successful iPhone titles to the new device, with enhanced controls and more functionality.

Here's the brief video showing the user interacting with the PlayStation branded section of the menu:

And here's a longer video which is focused on the other features of the device:
