Palm Treo 800w, one of the latest smartphones from the Californian manufacturer, will hit the market soon, according to some new leaked details. The handset was first unveiled back in 2007, when leaked photos appeared, together with some specifications about the phone's features.

More details about Treo 800w surfaced now, and it seems the new Palm will have about the same size as Palm Centro, released last year as the smallest Palm OS based handset ever made. However, the Treo 800w will not run on Palm OS, but on Windows Mobile 6.0 (with he possibility to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 when the update will be available).

Palm Treo 800w comes with a square display that supports a 320 x 320 pixels resolution, enough for a good mobile Internet browsing experience as well as for viewing videos at a decent quality. A 2 Megapixel camera with video capture is included, and most probably it will be capable of taking pretty good pictures. Treo 800w also has a full QWERTY keypad for easy text entry and a mini-USB plug for syncing and charging. Other nice features that the 800w will bring include Wi-Fi (with an on/off button), A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, EV-DO Rev. A, compatibility with Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008, 256 MB of built-in memory and, of course, microSD card support for those who want a bigger storage capacity. There are no details about the processor that powers the handset, nor about how much talk-time and stand-by time its battery can provide.

Apparently, the new Treo will be available in the US via Sprint, later than anyone expected, somewhere in April 2008. Its price is unknown at the moment, so we should wait for official details that will probably come soon from Sprint.
